The West High custodial crew absolutely killed it this summer! Our building looks great and is ready to go for school. The least we could do is treat them to lunch from Columbia's. Thank you to our crew!

Say goodbye to our tennis courts as we start the process of putting in new courts, with lights! In addition, the following projects will be in the works over the next year and a half. - Band tower- completed January 2025 - Baseball and softball turf infields- completed February 2026 - Soccer practice field at the track behind WJMS- completed by fall of 2025 We are thankful that JCS and our school board are willing to continue to put funds into academic, extra-curricular, and athletic facility improvements to keep us on the forefront of Kentucky schools.

AP scores were released today and once again West High students excelled! 242 exams were administered to 214 students. The average score was 3.3 (a passing score out of 5) 75% scored 3 or higher Of the 15 areas where students took exams, West Jessamine outscored Kentucky and Global averages in 10 of them. Congrats to our Colts and to our excellent AP teachers!

It was another great year for our Colts athletic programs. There are over 350 public/private high schools in Kentucky. WJHS competes in 18 officially recognized sports. Here is how West High stacks up in 23'-24' against the rest of the state. - Of the 8 "team" sports- 5 had postseason victories- boys soccer, girls soccer, volleyball, girls basketball, and baseball. 7 of the 8 teams had winning records in the regular season. - Of the "individual" sports- all, but two, had at least one athlete compete at the state level. - 4- Region Runners-up- boys cross country, girls soccer, girls track, girls basketball - 5- Region Champions (final 16 in the state) - cheer, boys soccer, volleyball, girls golf, baseball - 4- Top 5 finishes in the state- cheer, volleyball, girls track, esports - State Runner-up in Esports and Unified Bowling While not officially a KHSAA sport- the West High ultimate frisbee team finished 7th in the NATION at this weekend's tournament. A strong case can be made that WJHS has one of the most overall competitive and consistently successful athletic programs in the state. That is especially true considering our size (1300 students) compared to some of the other top performers. This success does happen by accident. It is the product of the hard work of our student-athletes, the dedication of our coaches, and the support of our athletic administration and parents. Thank you to the Class of 2024 for anchoring so many of these successful teams in the last 4 years. Dead period is June 25th-July 9th...then we run it back! Go Colts!!

Check out the West High Academic Recap for 23-24- -WJHS increased math and reading scores on the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) -West had no TSI (Targeted Support and Intervention) groups as identified by KSA -The class of 2024 had a composite ACT score of 20.1- 4th out of the 22 Central Kentucky Schools -The West High Band finished 7th in the state in AAA and received a unanimous distinguished rating on their State Assessment. -Over 300 AP exams were given (results coming in July) -Over 1000 college hours were earned, through Dual Credit -10 students selected for the Governor's School for the Arts -9 students selected for the Governor's Scholars Program -6 students earned the College Board National Recognition -4 students selected to the Craft Academy -1 perfect ACT score- Layne Ogden -1 state 1st place in the Math Assessment- Matthew Yuan 325 seniors graduated! And so much more!! We have great students and wonderful educators at West Jessamine High School. Thank you for making this a strong academic school that prepares our students for their next steps in life, whether that be further education, the work force, the military, or anything else they may choose to do. Our Colts are ready!

Forget a district title...the Colts are bringing home the 12th Region Championship and a trip to the state tournament at Whitaker Park! The Colts play Friday @ 1:30. Congrats to all region selections- Eli Nickell Aubrey Kearns Hayden Peters Ryan Long Go Colts!

We are so happy for Sara Crum and her new chapter with Jessamine County Schools as Superintendent! There is no one who pours more into our district or who knows our values and goals better than Sara. We are excited for the future of JCS and look forward to working with her to continue to grow.
