Our marching band is really finding their stride on their third day of camp! Steady beats and steady hearts marching their way into the 2024-2025 School Year!

We are excited to introduce Cameron Head to East Jessamine High School! Mr. Head is from Salem, Kentucky, and graduated from Livingston Central High School. He continued his education at Southeastern Illinois College and later Midway University. He is eager to get to know the students at East Jessamine and build strong relationships with them. He believes that the students are the heart of the profession and looks forward to helping them grow both academically and personally. A former college baseball player, Mr. Head also enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing golf. Welcome to the team!

Day 1 of Camps! Here's a picture of our dance team from their first day at UDA Camp and a picture of our football team from yesterday! We are proud of our many athletes that work hard to prepare for the upcoming seasons!

We are thrilled to welcome Laura Everly to the East High School team! Laura graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. After three years in a research lab, she decided to pursue her passion for teaching and is excited to bring her expertise to our science classrooms. Outside of teaching, Laura loves reading, especially horror novels, and has recently taken up crochet. She also enjoys playing relaxing video games like Stardew Valley. When she’s not spending time with family, she’s spoiling her two very sweet cats. Welcome, Laura! Together, let's weave a successful school year filled with knowledge and success!

Congratulations to Leslie, Alexis, and Katy for graduating from the Governor's Scholar Program this weekend at Centre College! We can't wait to hear about your experiences and celebrate this accomplishment with you! 💙

Sophie Grogan has been teaching and coaching at Murray High School in Murray, KY, for the past two years. Ready for something new and more opportunities, she's excited to settle in a new city and start working at East Jessamine High School. East felt like the perfect place to begin this next adventure! Sophie can't wait to join the Jaguar family, collaborate with new colleagues, and build lasting relationships at EJHS. In her free time, she loves running, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She's thrilled to embark on this new journey! We are so excited to have you join our team! Welcome to our Jaguar Family!

This might be a face and name you recognize...Having worked with EJHS for several years as an outside therapist, Rachel Smith has eagerly joined our Jaguar family! With eight years of experience as a mental health therapist, Rachel is passionate about providing quality mental health care to EJHS students and is excited to help grow the school's in-school mental health services. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, kayaking, spending time with friends and family, and hanging out with her cats. She looks forward to becoming a supportive figure in the EJHS community and helping students embrace their individuality and pursue their goals and dreams. Welcome to East!

Our BETA club grew by 10 this past school year! We are proud to be named a 2023-2024 National Beta School of Distinction! We can't wait to meet our 2024-2025 BETA members!

Yesterday, we shared out a recommended list for school supplies for students. Here is a list of common classroom supplies needed. If you have the means and willingness to help our teachers, please send these items to the front office, bring to Jaguar Orientation, OR have your student bring them on the first day of school.
You can also check our Amazon wish list at amzn.to/48foXP8 and items will be sent directly to our school!
As always, thank you for supporting our Eastside community.

At East High, we do not publish the traditional school supply lists. This is due to the varying needs for each course and teacher. You can expect your student to bring home a list of some specific items that are needed for their classes when they attend during the first week. Also, our teachers are aware of the fact that students may not have all items in the first week of school and accommodate any needs. Furthermore, we use the school provided Chromebooks as frequently as we can in order to cut down on the materials needed. With all that said, happy shopping!
Oh, and it’s Prime Day on Amazon! There may be some great deals on school supplies, backpacks, lunchboxes, and more!

School is about a month away! Which orientation session will you attend? 🤔

Starting this school year, East Jessamine High will follow a new cell phone policy to provide the best educational environment. While this change may be challenging, it’s a chance for students to disconnect from constant information and social pressure. Cell phones and social media are becoming too much of a distraction. Parents, your support has been vital, and we ask for it to continue as we implement this policy. Check the updated student handbook (page 33) for more details and our FAQ document for further questions.

We know what your plans are this Thursday night! Join us for some Bingo and Texas Roadhouse to support our choir!

She's been a part of our East family for a while now, but she will now join us at East High! Two years ago, Mrs. Lawson and her family moved to the area to be closer to relatives. Since then, she has been at East Middle, while her husband, Coach Lawson, has been at East High, where he teaches Social Studies and is the Head Coach of Baseball. Mrs. Lawson is thrilled to transition to the high school level and join our team! She is passionate about helping students and providing them with as many opportunities as possible. Mrs. Lawson loves spending time with her family (and we do too), going to the lake, fishing, and coaching East Middle Cheer. The Lawsons have four daughters: Emily, who will be attending EKU in the fall, Katie, who will be a sophomore, Abby, who will be a freshman, and Molly, who will be going into the 8th grade. Mrs. Lawson is eager to meet each and every one of you and embark on this new journey together. She is most excited about creating new relationships with her students and colleagues. Join us in welcoming Mrs. Lawson to East High!

Check out our Choir's Leadership Breakfast for the 24-25 school year! We cannot wait until we hear their voices echoing through the halls, paving the way for future artists at East!

Not too much longer until our highly anticipated annual Jaguar Orientation, and we can hardly contain our excitement! Time reconnect and get ready for the new school year. Our Chromebooks are prepped and ready to be picked up, ensuring you're fully equipped for the school year ahead. Don't forget to grab your exclusive house gear to show off your Jaguar pride. Parking passes and senior t-shirts will also be available during orientation. There are plenty of other housekeeping items to take care of, plus you get to see your teachers! Orientation hours are flexible, so come when it suits you best. You don't have to stay for the entire event (unless you want to). 😉 Remember, this is just the beginning of an amazing journey together. Let's make memories, forge friendships, and create a year that will be talked about for years to come! We can’t wait to see our Jags!

More reminders about the start of the 2024-2025 School Year! Our custodial staff has been working diligently to prepare our school and grounds for our Jaguar family! Our campus is such a beautiful place for our students and staff to grow and learn together. Thank you to our dedicated custodians who work tirelessly behind the scenes so when our Jaguars return they are welcomed to a safe and refreshed space!

Ohmygoodness!!! It’s another full circle moment here at East Jessamine High School as we welcome back the one and only, Baileigh Adkins as a social studies teacher! She recently graduated from EKU in the spring and completed her last semester of student teaching at EJHS. She has shared that she loved the students she taught in the spring, and the atmosphere at East is incomparable to any other school she has been at before! While she has been away from East, Baleigh has accomplished so much! She was on the EKU CO-ED cheerleading team for three years and has two National Championships. She has also spent the last couple of summers working at North Central 4-H camp, teaching and connecting with campers all across the state! She is so excited to come back home and give back to the school and community that gave so much to her. We look forward to seeing her this fall, but until then, she will enjoy being outside, going to the beach, taking trips to Disney World, and taking plenty of naps. Welcome back, Baileigh. We’ve missed you and are so glad you’re home.
