Our 5th grade students had an amazing visit to EJMS today! They explored, learned, and got a glimpse of what’s ahead in middle school. 📌 Families — be sure to check out the important information below to help your child get ready for this exciting next step! 👇 💚Tuesday, May 13 is a parent night. More information about times to come. 💙Middle School 101 will be the Tuesday the week before school starts from 12:30-3:30. This is for students to get their schedule and meet all their teachers. 💚If students are interested in band or chorus, a Google form will soon be shared for students to say they are interested. These are year long classes and are a great way for students to learn an instrument (their voice included). Students can also do BOTH! If students don’t want band or chorus, they will have different Arts classes throughout the year. 💙Lastly, be sure to follow East Jessamine Middle School on Facebook. They post all kinds of reminders and updates about things happening at school.

Today, our 3rd–5th grade students had the incredible opportunity to hear from a very special guest, Alex Meacham! Alex shared his inspiring journey — from earning his Communication Degree at the University of Cincinnati and playing for the Bearcats under Hall of Fame Coach Bob Huggins, to writing a best-selling book Walk of a Lifetime and working with Michael Jordan’s brand on a limited edition sneaker. Today, Alex is the President of Shining Star Sports, overseeing 40+ AAU basketball teams and multiple basketball facilities in the Greater Cincinnati area. He’s also a TV analyst, podcast host, and a dedicated community leader serving on the Boards for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati and the Talbert House Fatherhood Project. Our students walked away today encouraged to chase their dreams, work hard, and make a positive impact in their communities! Thank you, Alex, for inspiring our students!

Thank you to those who have completed our Title I Parent Survey. We were made aware of the issues for some families who tried to submit their responses. We apologize and have corrected those issues. Please use the updated QR Code or link in this message to complete and submit the survey if you have not already done so. Remember our district goal is 30% survey completion by families. As of today, our school had 34 families submit the survey. We need 158 to meet our goal. 🌟 This is NOT an April Fools' joke – we truly have the BESt staff around! 🌟 We recently had the honor of celebrating some of our outstanding team members: 👏 Laurie Ethington– Certified Teacher of the Year! She goes above & beyond to meet the needs of all our students and is always there to support her fellow teachers. 👏 Jennifer Peel– Classified Staff Member of the Year! She struggles to say "no" and brings so much joy to Brookside. Always ready to lend a hand and make a difference! 👏 Tara Haney– Special Education Teacher of the Year! She creates an environment where ALL learners can thrive and supports each child’s unique needs. We are beyond proud and blessed to have these three incredible individuals at BES! 💙

Mrs. Hill's class is putting their detective skills to the test! Today, they practiced using images to guess the story's topic, followed by independent reading and group discussion. The students worked hard to answer questions together and build their reading confidence.

Our 5th grade students are working on identifying their strengths. Graduate Profile carries from elementary into high school and as our 5th graders transition into middle school, it is a good time to stop and reflect about what they have learned! Ask your 5th grader what attribute they chose as their strength!
